Finite Element Analysis, Bridge and Temporary Works Design Welcome to our Home Page Independent engineer based in the UK, carrying out finite element analysis, bridge and temporary works design. Recently we have carried out the steelwork design for Gloucester Quays lift bridge, design of Dunheved steel/composite bridge deck (3 spans), FE analysis for over 40 of the most complex roof connections on Wembley Stadium, and temporary works design for the new Newport arch bridge over the River Usk. We are equally happy carrying out small elements of work on jobs, such as designing connections, or checking temporary works. Please let me know if you have any requirements, or have any comments/queries regarding our services or the website. Our aim is to provide accurate, fast, and cost effective solutions to all our clients.
We are able to carry out most types of finite element analysis (FEA), from simple linear stress analysis to complex nonlinear and dynamic analysis, use state of the art software, and always welcome new challenges. Please click on the link above for some interesting animations and details of different types of analysis. These include stress, nonlinear, dynamic, structural, geotechnical, contact, seismic, and buckling problems. Analysis can be done quickly and efficiently using high quality programs, and will often be quicker and more economical than in house analysis. Design, checking, and assessment of bridges, or elements of bridges, in the UK and overseas. Types of structure include highway bridges, rail bridges, temporary bridges, and footbridges. Our particular area of expertise is with steel and composite bridges, and assessment of old wrought iron and steel bridges. Recent experience includes tender design of steel plate girder composite bridges, detailed design of numerous bolted girder splices, integral bridge design, and research into capacity of riveted railway bridges. General temporary works design for access, lifting, moving, restraint, and support. Chris Booth has vast experience of developing erection schemes and designing temporary works, having been involved with many of the major short and medium span steel bridges erected in the UK over the last 25 years. Having worked with various contractors and fabricators, he is acutely aware of the requirement for schemes to be simple, economical, and to offer programme benefits wherever possible. A number of the projects with which he was associated were awarded contracts as a direct result of innovative erection schemes offering reductions in cost, risk, and time. Erection schemes for bridges and special structures involving mobile cranes, launching, sliding, rolling, lifting, floating cranes, and transporters.
